Internal resonances and bifurcations of an Array Below the First Pull-in Instability

چکیده
A nonlinear continuum model is used to investigate the dynamic behavior of an array of N nonlinearly coupled microbeams. Investigations concentrate on the region below the array’s first pull-in instability, which is shown to be governed by several internal three-to-one and combination resonances. The nonlinear equations of motion for a two-element system are solved using the asymptotic multiple-scales method for the weak nonlinear system. The analytically obtained periodic response of two coupled microbeams is numerically evaluated by a continuation technique and complemented by a numerical analysis of a three-element array which exhibits quasiperiodic responses and lengthy chaotic transients. This study of small-size microbeam arrays serves for design purposes and the understanding of nonlinear nearest-neighbor interactions of mediumand large-size arrays.

Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of Cracked Micro-Beams Below and at the Onset of Dynamic Pull-In Instability
In this paper, the effect of the crack on dynamic behavior of cracked micro-beam in the presence of DC and AC loads are investigated. By applying the residual axial stress and fringing field stress, a nonlinear analytical model of cracked micro-beam is presented and crack is modeled by a massless rotational spring. متن کاملDynamic and Static Pull-in instability of electrostatically actuated nano/micro membranes under the effects of Casimir force and squeezed film damping
In the current study, the effects of Casimir force and squeeze film damping on pull-in instability and dynamic behavior of electrostatically actuated nano and micro electromechanical systems are investigated separately. Linear elastic membrane theory is used to model the static and dynamic behavior of the system for strip, annular and disk geometries. Squeeze film damping is modeled using nonli...
متن کاملPull-In Instability and Vibrations of a Beam Micro-Gyroscope
Gyroscopes are used as rotation rate sensors. Conventional gyroscopes are heavy and bulky, which creates important problems regarding their usage in different applications. Micro-gyroscopes have solved these problems due to their small size. The beam micro-gyroscope is one of the popular types of inertial sensors. Their small dimensions and low energy consumption are key reasons for their popul...

The present research attempts to explain dynamic pull-in instability of functionally graded micro-cantilevers actuated by step DC voltage while the fringing-field effect is taken into account in the vibrational equation of motion. By employing modern asymptotic approach namely Homotopy Perturbation Method with an auxiliary term, high-order frequency-amplitude relation is obtained, then the infl...
متن کاملEstimation of pull-in instability voltage of Euler-Bernoulli micro beam by back propagation artificial neural network
The static pull-in instability of beam-type micro-electromechanical systems is theoretically investigated. Two engineering cases including cantilever and double cantilever micro-beam are considered. Considering the mid-plane stretching as the source of the nonlinearity in the beam behavior, a nonlinear size-dependent Euler-Bernoulli beam model is used based on a modified couple stress theory, c...
